Handmade felt, muslin, image transfer
Series of 6
Each piece approximately 7"x7"
This series of six hand-felted image transfers is an exploration of the ambiguous role of photographs and their ability to simultaneously reveal and distort a scene or experience that they are meant to objectively record. No matter how closely they are scrutinized and examined, the images remain fragmentary, decontextualized and opaque. In this work, I am allowing the feltmaking process to act as a mediator between found photographs and the viewer, displacing the original context and leaving space for the ambiguity.
